    @gnookergi: The cup is there to make sure that the amount of batter is the same when pouring into the iron. Since the pressure level in the dispenser may vary and a set time had been used, the amount of batter would differ.

    What's the point of the cup? Just pour it right in from the dispenser. You wouldn't have to worry about wiping it all the time.
